The Community Action for Improved Nutrition (CAIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organisation with humanitarian and development objectives, committed to improving the Nutritional Status and Health of a diverse community of individuals and society through provision of technical and programmatic support to States, LGAs, communities and other stakeholders in the planning, implementation, functioning, management, supervision and monitoring of Nutrition and Health interventions.
We are guided by the principle that good nutrition plays a role in growth, development, health and survival of an individual, hence, the promotion and meaningful involvement, participation and ownership of the community in nutrition and health activities as well as promotion of the consumption of locally available food that are underutilized, exploiting evidence-based approaches.
Our Vision is to have a community or society where all people are empowered through transformative nutrition, health and social development.
Our Mission is to improve human health through better nutrition and life style.
To change key behaviours related to poor dietary habit and care of adolescent girls, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children under five years of age and the elderly.
The organisation retains as its core-values the notion to plan and work with communities to become self-reliant, self-determined and self-sufficient. In addition to doing this, it will through group education and workshops prevent sickness and diseases in the communities.
